Kraken is preparing to launch an NFT marketplace
Crypto exchange Kraken is developing a marketplace for NFTs that will appeal to customers who want to do more than just collect digital art.
According to a Bloomberg interview with Kraken Founder and CEO Jesse Powel, the marketplace will provide custody services, along with a possible system that will allow customers to use their NFTs as collateral to borrow funds against.
“If you deposit a CryptoPunk on Kraken, we want to be able to reflect the value of that in your account. And if you want to borrow funds against that,” he said.
It’s no surprise Kraken is entering the NFT space, as it will allow the exchange to compete with its competitors, including Coinbase, Binance, and FTX that are all developing NFT marketplaces.
Virtual Reality takes over App Store for Christmas
The Virtual Reality space is booming thanks to the rise of the Metaverse and other technological advancements. The VR space is going up so much in fact, the category took the number one position on the App Store on Christmas.
The app itself was Oculus, and we’re assuming that Oculus took such spot thanks to a lot of people getting VR equipment for Christmas. This just goes to show the fast mainstream rise of VR and the tech surrounding it at the moment.
Apple is one of many tech giants to take notice of VR’s rise in popularity this year, as the company is planning to launch its AR and VR headset in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Microsoft Exec says Ethereum will become the decentralized App Store in 2023
Microsoft’s Director of Digital Transformation, Yorke Rhodes, who has been in such position for the past seven years, is confident that Ethereum will become the decentralized App Store of the future or marketplace of Web3, by 2023.
This comes through reasons such as the crypto being decentralized and having no central control, stopping common issues like Apple controlling an app’s direction, and also, due to the low fees of Ethereum compared to Apple’s app profit sharing rates.
We completely agree with Rhodes thoughts as Ethereum is the perfect platform for an app store like system. Rhodes says Ethereum needs to scale further to get there fully, presumably through updates and rollups, but by 2023 seems confident that it will be in a good position for it, so there's definitely a strong possibility that it'll happen.
Own and secure your crypto
If you’re into cryptocurrency and own crypto assets, you need a secure place to store your coins and tokens. You probably already know that you shouldn’t store your crypto on an exchange due to potential hacks, not being solely in control of your crypto’s private keys, and for other reasons, and so a hardware wallet is the way to go and the best option to protect your private keys, therefore, you should make the move to a Ledger wallet.
Ledger wallets are an extremely secure and premium way to secure, manage, and grow your crypto assets with their Bluetooth-enabled hardware wallets, and easy-to-use app which lets you manage your portfolio on the go. They let you manage multiple assets, buy, sell, grow, and exchange crypto, gain financial freedom by you being in full control and ownership of your private keys, and so much more.
The wallets are really simple to setup, and to move your crypto over to, so there’s no reason not to secure your assets and take control of your cryptocurrency now and get yourself a Ledger device. You can manage 1800+ coins and tokens directly in the Ledger Live app once you’ve got your device up and running, so you’ll always have your entire portfolio covered.
