Staples Center to be renamed Crypto.com Arena in $700m deal

Staples Center, the home arena to NBA teams Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers, is set to be renamed Crypto.com Arena.

On December 25th, the official home of NBA teams Los Angeles Lakers, LA Clippers, and WNBA's Los Angeles Sparks, along with the NHL's LA Kings, will change its logo and in-arena signage.

A source has revealed that Crypto.com is paying $700m over the next 20 years to rename the arena, which if true, would make it the most expensive naming rights deal in sports history.

"In the next few years, people will look back at this moment as the moment when crypto crossed the chasm into the mainstream," Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek said.

Hyundai reveals new electric SUV concept

Yesterday at the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show, Hyundai revealed a new electric vehicle concept called the Hyundai Seven.

The Hyundai Seven is currently just a concept, so there’s no guarantee it will go into production. However, with how popular electric SUVs have become in the past few years, Hyundai Seven will likely make its debut.

Hyundai shared that the concept is a category-bending electric SUV that highlights “an aerodynamically pure silhouette instinctively divergent from a typical SUV”.

To stay safe, a “Hygiene Air Flow” system is featured in the car's interior that isolates the airflow between front and rear passengers. Seats can also be customized “depending on driver-controlled or autonomous driving modes,” with a retractable joystick that replaces the steering wheel when the car is in self-driving mode.

The Hyundai Seven is capable of charging from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 20 minutes using chargers with 350kW capacity and has a range of over 300 miles.

Risk taking is inevitable

If you are an entrepreneur, now more than ever, taking risks is key to creating a successful business.

The majority of successful entrepreneurs have taken risks to get their businesses to where they are today. Taking risks doesn’t mean making important decisions in a matter of seconds. It requires hard work and a lot of planning.

Risks that are worth taking are always calculated. They should always be carefully considered and have a likely possibility of working out if followed up smartly. Risk-taking is unavoidable when starting a business, so it is a required skill to master.

Some risks may not pay off, even after weeks or months of planning, but this shouldn’t stop you from taking more risks in the future. When you stop taking risks, you’ll always wonder what could have happened if you had dared to take the leap.

Netflix launches new top 10 website for movies and shows

On Tuesday, Netflix announced it is continuing to be more transparent about what movies and shows are being streamed most on its platform, with a new weekly Top 10 report.

Netflix’s data will show up on its new website, where it will have multiple different top 10 list, ranked by the number of hours subscribers have spent watching them.

The weekly Top 10 hub will update every Tuesday with lists of the top films and series in the following categories: Films (English), Films (Non-English), TV (English), and TV (Non-English).

“This is an important step forward for Netflix, the creators we work with and our members,” Pablo Perez De Rosso, the company’s vice president of content strategy, planning and analysis, said in a blog post. “People want to understand what success means in a streaming world, and these lists offer the clearest answer to that question in our industry.”
