Airbnb has recently announced that it will test its new anti-party technology in the U.S. and Canada. The new technology is developed to help enforce Airbnb’s global ban on house parties which they announced as a codified policy back in June.

The anti-party technology is designed to catch bookings that can potentially result in unauthorized parties being held at an Airbnb. It will look at many different factors in the bookings, such as a guest’s review history, the age of the guest’s account, the length in which the guest is staying at the Airbnb as well as whether the booking is on a weekday or weekend.

Airbnb has been trying to crack down on house parties for years now and has already been trialing similar anti-party technology in select areas of Australia. The company has also trialed a similar system in the US since July 2020, which limited the focus on Airbnb guests that are under the age of 25. With its latest rollout, there will not be a maximum age limit in which the technology will look when sifting through guest bookings.

If the new technology catches a guest that is suspected of having an unauthorized party at an Airbnb, their accounts will be suspended and will be blocked from making any bookings to host unauthorized parties.
