Engineered Arts, a UK-based designer and manufacturer of humanoid robots, has showed off one of its lifelike robots in a recent YouTube video, and the internet can’t decide if it is creepy or just cool.
⠀
In the video, you can see Ameca, Engineered Arts’ new humanoid robot wake up and seem confused at first before going on to look at its hand and arms and even smile at the camera.
⠀
The bot is currently not able to walk, flip, or do parkour like Boston Dynamics’ robot can, but Engineered Arts is studying the capability. Ameca is aimed to be “the future face of robotics” and is “the world’s most advanced human-shaped robot.”
⠀
If Ameca isn’t impressive enough for you, Engineered Arts also developed another realistic bot, named Mesmer, via 3D scans of humans to give it accurate bone structure, skin texture, and lifelike facial expressions. In the Mesmer video posted, the bot makes a series of expressions that look even more realistic thanks to lifelike skin.
