Apple's mixed reality headset could have Mac-level performance
Appleās long-awaited mixed reality headset is expected to be powered by two processors, similar to Appleās M1 chip.
ā
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed new details surrounding Appleās mixed reality headset in a note to investors. The AR headset will have a processor āwith the same computing power level as the Macā along with a chip design that will put the Apple AR headset ahead of its competitors.
ā
It is expected to launch in late 2022 with the ability to support both AR and virtual reality (VR) experiences thanks to a pair of 4K Micro OLED displays from Sony, which is only possible because of the significant amount of computing power from the processors.
ā
āAppleās AR headset requires a separate processor as the computing power of the sensor is significantly higher than that of the iPhone. For example, the AR headset requires at least 6-8 optical modules to simultaneously provide continuous video see-through AR services to users. In comparison, an iPhone requires up to 3 optical modules running simultaneously and does not require continuous computing,ā Kuo revealed.
Xiaomiās EV factory to produce 300,000 cars per year
Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi Corp is planning to build a factory that can produce 300,000 vehicles annually in Beijing for its electric vehicle unit.
ā
According to economic development agency Bejing E-Town, the factory will be constructed in two phases. It was also revealed that Xiaomi will build its auto unit's headquarters and sales and research offices in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone.
ā
Xiaomi has planned to invest $10 billion into its EV division to go up against companies such as Tesla and Xpeng. With China being one of the biggest markets for EVs, its vehicles will likely be a success.
ā
Last October, Xiaomiās CEO, Lei Jun, first revealed that the company hoped to mass-produce electric vehicles in 2024, so the new factory will help towards reaching that goal.

Spotify will be retiring its Car View feature
Spotify's car view feature that makes the music streaming service app look less distracting and easier to control will be retired after just three years of its launch.
ā
According to a Spotify moderator that answered a post onĀ Spotify's community forumĀ asking why the car view feature is missing explained that Spotify is retiring the feature as "an effort to make way for new innovations coming down the track." The retirement of the feature does not mean that Spotify is not trying to improve how listeners use their music streaming service while driving.
ā
The Spotify team is constantly working and developing ways to improve in-car user experiences, but at the moment, they are not working on a potential replacement for the car view feature.
ā
It is unclear whether the feature will only be retired only on Androids or all platforms, but the feature at the moment will still be available on iPhone. It will no longer work on Android devices since Spotify is retiring it to make way for new features on the Android version of the music streaming platform.
ā
Although there is no current replacement for the car view feature, users can utilize an alternative to the feature by using the hands-free mode via Google Assistant, which will also work with Google Maps to help users navigate while listening to music through Spotify. Users on iOS can control music hands-free from Spotify by saying "Play Paramore on Spotify" to Siri.
