Apple Music launches on the PS5

Subscribers can access a catalog of 90 million songs

After PlayStation 5 users spotted hints at a possible Apple Music integration, Sony has now confirmed the music streaming service is available on PS5 now.

All PS5 users that have an Apple Music subscription can now connect their account to their PS5, similar to how you would with Spotify. Once connected, PS5 users can listen to all 90 million songs on the service before, during, or after playing a game.

Apple Music can also be used on the PS5 to watch music videos from the streaming service. “Start by playing the video in full screen; if you decide you want to go back to your gameplay or navigate elsewhere on the PS5’s home screen, the audio from the music video will continue to play,” the blog post states. “If you want to go back to the music video, it’ll also pick up seamlessly from wherever you are in the song, with no interruption to the music.”

This is the PS5’s second integration with an Apple service, as the PS5 launched with the Apple TV Plus app last year. Sony went even further and teamed up with Apple to offer six months of free Apple TV Plus memberships to PS5 owners.
