SEBA Bank launches Ethereum staking
Swiss digital asset banking platform SEBA has launched Ether staking services for institutional investors ahead of the network’s anticipated Merge upgrade.
The Merge is expected to occur around September 13th-15th. If everything goes to plan, transitioning from proof-of-work (PoW) to proof-of-stake (PoS) will lower Ethereum’s energy consumption by over 99%.
In a news release, SEBA said the institutional-grade staking services will allow its clients to earn rewards on their ETH holdings in a “flexible and accessible” manner, with rewards provided on a monthly basis.
Mathias Schütz, an executive at SEBA Bank, stated the firm believes that institutions can play a role in securing the network by staking ETH, adding:
“The launch of our Ethereum staking services will enable institutional investors to play a key role in securing the future of the network, via a trusted, secure, and fully regulated counterparty.”
Schütz noted that the Merge is a significant milestone for Ethereum in terms of security, scalability, and sustainability. The executive explained that launching support for ETH staking will help its clients keep up with the rapidly evolving digital assets industry.
Also Wednesday, Binance.US announced that users can now stake Ether on its platform with a minimum of just 0.001 ETH ($1.61) and earn rewards at an initial rate of 6% APY.

Apple held its annual “Far Out” yesterday and debuted the iPhone 14 with four models, in addition to the Apple Watch Max, and a whole lot more. Let’s dive in!
Apple Watch Ultra
Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Ultra, a new feature-rich smartwatch built for athletes and explorers, featuring an all-new design, a large flat sapphire crystal display, and a customizable Action button.
The 49mm titanium case has the brightest Apple Watch display yet at 2,000 nits, along with a bigger Digital Crown that's more “rugged and capable.” It features cellular capability and 36 hours of battery life. This can be extended to 60 hours when a new low-power setting is enabled.
The Apple Watch Ultra will be available on September 23rd for $799.
iPhone 14 & iPhone 14 Plus
During the second hand of the event, Apple focused on the upcoming iPhone 14 range, kicking off its announcements with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. The base model retains a 6.1-inch screen, while the new Plus model offers a larger option at 6.7 inches.
Both models will be powered by Apple’s A15 Bionic chip, the same chip that’s in the iPhone 13 Pro, but with a 5-core GPU for improved performance.
The iPhone 14 starts at $799, the iPhone 14 Plus starts at $1,099, and they’ll be available on September 16th and October 7th, respectively.
iPhone 14 Pro & iPhone 14 Pro Max
The most exciting announcement from Apple’s Far Out event was the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. In the first notable display redesign since the iPhone X, both models feature a new pill-shaped cutout called the "Dynamic Island," which takes up less space than the notch. Both devices also include a faster A16 Bionic chip and an always-on display.
Apple CEO Tim Cook called the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max the “most innovative pro lineup yet.” The iPhone 14 Pro will start at $999, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at $1,099. Both will be available on September 16th.

FTX gift cards come to GameStop stores
GameStop has recently announced that they have partnered up with crypto exchange FTX as part of the company’s expansion into blockchain technology.
The partnership with FTX is intended to introduce GameStop customers to the FTX community as well as introduce them to its digital assets marketplace, as GameStop stated in their press release. As part of the company’s effort in introducing its customers to FTX, GameStop will begin to carry FTX gift cards in select stores.
FTX and GameStop’s partnership comes after the electronic retail company launched its own NFT marketplace and crypto wallet. GameStop is one of many companies that have partnered up with FTX, such as Reddit.
