AssangeDAO, a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) fighting to free WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, has placed the winning bid for an NFT created by digital artist Pak dubbed, ‘Clock.’
⠀
The DAO raised a total of 17,422 ETH through the community funding hosting platform Juicebox to bid on the Clock NFT and won the auction after placing the maximum bid of 16,593 ETH ($53M).
⠀
The proceeds from the sale of the NFT will go entirely towards Assange’s defense fund. "100% will go to Wau Holland Foundation that supports Julian Assange's defence," Pak said on Twitter.
⠀
On Monday, Pak first announced his ‘Censored’ NFT collection in coloration with Assange. Unlike Pak’s ‘Merge’ drop, which sold for $91 million last year, the Clock is a single NFT that counts the number of days Assange has spent in prison.
⠀
In return for contributing to the cause, all donors can now claim AssangeDAO’s $JUSTICE governance token, giving them a voice in how the DAO’s resources are used.
