Bitcoin's long-anticipated Taproot upgrade is activated

Yesterday, the Bitcoin network rolled out the first upgrade in four years, dubbed “Taproot.”

The long-in-the-making Taproot code went live when the Bitcoin blockchain reached block 709,632 at 5:15 AM GMT (00:15 ET), which was mined and replayed by F2Pool.

Taproot introduces Schnorr signatures that improve privacy, scalability, and security on the network, making multi-signature transactions on Bitcoin look like any other transaction, so hackers have a harder time noticing them.

“Taproot matters, because it opens a breadth of opportunity for entrepreneurs interested in expanding bitcoin’s utility,” said Alyse Killeen, founder and managing partner of bitcoin-focused venture firm Stillmark.

Instagram adds new text to speech and voice effects to Instagram Reels

Instagram has recently revealed that they are adding new effects onto Instagram Reels which include text-to-speech and voice effects.

Voice effects and text-to-speech are two features that are popular on TikTok for creators to use especially text-to-speech, as they allow creators to create their content accessible to people who are visually impaired or have hearing difficulties. These new features being implemented on Instagram Reels will allow more content creators and users to make their content more accessible.

To add text-to-speech onto Reels, users have to go into the Reels, record or upload a video and then add some text onto the video that the user uploads by using the text tool. Next, tap on the text bubble to get the three-dot menu, select "text-to-speech," and choose the voice options you want and finally post the Reel.

Unlike Reels, TikTok has more text-to-speech voice options, such as their recent introduction of Disney character voices like Stitch, Chewbacca, Rocket Raccoon, and others.

To add a voice effect that allows users to modify audio, such as voiceovers on Instagram Reels, they would first have to record their Reels then tap the music note to open the audio mixer. Once the audio mixer is opened, users can choose the voice effect they want, which includes the options of "helium," giant," and "robot."

Tesla starts deploying Starlink satellite internet dishes at Superchargers

Tesla has started to deploy deploy Starlink antennas at Supercharger stations, suggesting that the company is attempting to improve connectivity for its customers.

Sometimes charging your Tesla can a while. The automaker has been helping to end boredom while waiting with built-in apps for entertainment such as Tesla Theatre, which includes Netflix, YouTube, Twitch, Tesla Arcade, a library of video games, and other streaming apps.

However, only owners with premium connectivity, a $10 monthly subscription for data-heavy apps can use those features through Tesla’s LTE cellular connectivity. For Telsa owners that only want to use data-heavy apps while charging their cars, they will be able to instead connect to Starlink’s satellite internet at Superchargers.

Back in October, Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed on Twitter that all of Tesla’s Superchargers will eventually have free WiFi, while replying to a tweet asking why all Superchargers don’t have WiFi.
