Bitrefill, a Swedish startup that allows users to spend their crypto on gift cards and mobile top-ups, has made its Pay Bill service available to U.S. users.
⠀
Pay Bill allows users to pay their credit card bills, utilities, healthcare, mortgage payments, and 20,000 other types of bills with a selection of the world’s most popular cryptocurrencies.
⠀
In addition to Bitcoin (BTC), users can choose to pay with Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), DASH, and U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin Tether (USDT).
⠀
This is made possible through various integrations with T-Mobile, American Express, State Farm, Wells Fargo, United Healthcare, and Bank of America, Citi, United Healthcare, Anthem, and USAA, among others.
⠀
“Just like the streaming video services allowed people to ‘cut the cord’ from their cable provider, this lets users take a big step towards cutting the cord with their bank and live bankless,” Bitrefill said in a statement sent to Bitcoin Magazine.
⠀
The service will be launched in partnership with a regulated financial services partner and require users to verify their account by submitting an identity document as well as proof of U.S. residency before they can start using it.
