Warner Music Group partners with blockchain gaming developer Splinterlands
Warner Music Group is not slowing down, as on Wednesday, the music giant announced its partnership with fantasy-themed collectible card game developer Splinterlands.
ㅤㅤ
The two companies will collaborate to enable opportunities for WMG’s roster of artists to develop play-to-earn, arcade-style blockchain games. Additionally, the two companies will develop mobile-friendly experiences accessible to everyone.
ㅤㅤ
In a press release, Oana Ruxandra, WMG Chief Digital Officer & EVP, Business Development, shared how the partnership will open up new revenue streams for WMG artists and enhance the company’s focus on music.
ㅤㅤ
“I don’t think we can underestimate how massive the opportunity around P2E gaming is. By partnering with Splinterlands to build custom tokenized games, we’ll unlock new revenue streams for our artists who have an interest in the space while elevating the role of fandom and community,” she said. “As the Web3 ecosystem continues to evolve, WMG is committed to making sure music is front-and-center.”
ㅤㅤ
Spltinerlands launched its game of the same name back in 2018, which allows card lovers to play, trade, and earn in-game rewards from their desktop or mobile phone. Since then, it has become one of the top blockchain games with 1.8M registered users and 450k active daily users.
Chinese student’s $548,000 Doodle NFT stolen
A senior at Shanghai’s Tongji University, Niq Chen, has lost a high-value NFT worth around $548,000.
⠀
First reported by South China Morning Post, Chen went all-in and bought an NFT from the well-known Doodles collection, which made up half the value of his entire NFT assets.
⠀
On Monday, Chen shared on Discord that he lost his NFT worth 200 ETH, or $548,000 after clicking on a phishing link. Shortly after, OpenSea disabled buying and selling of the NFT, but unfortunately by then, the thief already sold it.
⠀
This is far from the first time we’ve seen OpenSea users lose their NFTs, as over last weekend, 32 users were targeted by a phishing scam, resulting in an estimated total of $1.7M worth of NFTs getting stolen.
⠀
As terrible as these scams are, they’re good reminders of the importance to protect your NFTs. Even if you don't plan to do much, at the very least, never click on any links unless you are 100% certain what they are.

Opera integrates Ethereum Layer 2 Exchange DeversiFi
Web 3 browser Opera has added support for DeversiFi, a decentralized exchange on the Ethereum blockchain powered by Starkware's Layer 2 scaling solution.
⠀
The integration will offer a easier, faster, and cheaper for Opera’s mobile users to send ETH to each other in p2p transactions, with a Layer 2 swapping feature.
⠀
DeversiFi is powered by StarkWare's StarkEx scalability engine that makes Layer 2 transactions “instantaneous and 100-times cheaper” than transacting over Ethereum Layer 1. This will allow Opera to eliminate costly transaction fees and introduce instant trading to its users.
⠀
"It's part of Opera's DNA to make accessing the web easier. We have been providing extreme data savings, privacy or ad blocking features to our users around the globe. Now it's time to remove one of the key hurdles associated with the use of web3: exorbitant gas fees and slow network speeds," said Jorgen Arnesen, Opera's EVP Mobile.
