Epic Games and Lego partner to build a kid-friendly metaverse
Will make the metaverse a place for everyone
Fortnite and Unreal Engine developer Epic Games and Lego are teaming up to build a family-friendly metaverse.
⠀
As part of the partnership, the two companies will develop an "immersive, creatively inspiring, and engaging digital experience” that is safe and fun for children. A big focus will be to equip children and adults with tools that give them control over their digital experience.
⠀
The two other principles LEGO Group and Epic Games have agreed upon to ensure the digital spaces are safe include: protecting children's privacy by prioritising their best interests and protecting children’s right to play by making safety and wellbeing a priority.
⠀
“Kids enjoy playing in digital and physical worlds and move seamlessly between the two. We believe there is huge potential for them to develop life-long skills such as creativity, collaboration and communication through digital experiences. But we have a responsibility to make them safe, inspiring and beneficial for all. Just as we’ve protected children’s rights to safe physical play for generations, we are committed to doing the same for digital play. We look forward to working with Epic Games to shape this exciting and playful future,” Niels B Christiansen, CEO of The LEGO Group said.
⠀
While few other details have been revealed, Epic Games and the LEGO Group might be the perfect duo to create a family-friendly metaverse, thanks to both companies already being globally known for developing games appropriate for all ages.
