Meta has recently announced that they are introducing a new built-in bill splitting feature within Facebook Messenger. Meta is currently testing out the new feature in the United States next week.
⠀
The built-in splitting feature will allow Facebook Messenger users to split a bill with friends and roommates. Users can ask for money from individuals within a group chat as well as be able to see who paid their portion of a bill in the chat.
⠀
To use the split payment, users will have to click on the "Get Started" button in a group chat or the Payment Hub within Messenger. Then the user can split a bill evenly or modify the amount in which the bill is split between each person in the group chat. Once the bill is split, the user just sends the request in the group chat.
⠀
Besides introducing the new bill splitting features in Messenger, Meta is introducing new Group Effects that will allow users of both Messenger and Instagram to video call while using augmented reality (AR) video effects. They are also introducing new emojis with sounds, called soundemojis.
⠀
Meta will be adding Stranger Things as well as a Taylor Swift soundemoji that plays a snippet from her song, "Red". These new features are now available for Facebook Messenger users to use.
