Google Cloud outage takes down Spotify, Discord, and many more sites
Only was a brief global outage
Last night a Google Cloud outage took down a handful of popular platforms, including Spotify, Snapchat, Etsy, and Discord.
Users began reporting issues with multiple sites on Tuesday, and of course, went to Twitter to share memes about the situation. At around 6 PM GMT, Google Cloud confirmed the networking problem.
A networking issue was to blame for the outage causing apps using the service to go offline. It’s not the first time we’ve seen something like this happen, as, in October, all of Meta’s platforms, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, went down in a seven-hour-long global outage.
By 8:18 PM GMT, Google announced that the issue was fully resolved. “We will publish an analysis of this incident, once we have completed our internal investigation," the company wrote.
