Italian luxury fashion brand Gucci will soon accept payments in cryptocurrencies in a handful of stores in the U.S.
⠀
Gucci will launch a pilot to test the acceptance of cryptocurrencies by the end of May, with plans to extend the functionality to all non-franchise North American stores this summer.
⠀
Initially, Gucci’s five U.S. flagship stores will accept crypto, located at Wooster Street in New York, Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles, Miami Design District, Phipps Plaza in Atlanta and The Shops at Crystals in Las Vegas.
⠀
“Gucci is always looking to embrace new technologies when they can provide an enhanced experience for our customers,” Gucci president and CEO Marco Bizzarri said. “Now that we are able to integrate cryptocurrencies within our payment system, it is a natural evolution for those customers who would like to have this option available to them.”
⠀
Gucci will accept payments in more than ten cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Wrapped Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and five stablecoins pegged to the US dollar.
⠀
In-store crypto payments will be made with a link sent via email to customers, allowing them to execute the payment from their crypto wallet.
