Jack Dorsey resigns as Twitter CEO
15 year after he co-founded the site
Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is stepping down from the company and CTO Parag Agrawal has replaced him as chief executive.
Earlier this morning CNBC first reported the news, confirming that Jack Dorsey has resigned from Twitter. The company later confirmed that CTO Parag Agrawal would succeed him and take a seat on the board, effective immediately.
Dorsey was the social platform’s first CEO in 2007 until he was forced out the following year, then he returned to the role in 2015, and now he’s stepped down, this time by choice.
In an official statement, Dorsey said, “I’ve decided to leave Twitter because I believe the company is ready to move on from its founders. My trust in Parag as Twitter’s CEO is deep. His work over the past 10 years has been transformational. I’m deeply grateful for his skill, heart, and soul. It’s his time to lead.”
