Kojima Productions launches new movie, TV and music division
Will be headquartered in Los Angeles
Death Stranding developer Kojima Productions has launched a new division dedicated to music, TV, and film.
Based in Los Angeles, California, the new division will be dedicated to other pop culture areas outside of the gaming industry, including music, TV, and film. Riley Russel will lead the team, after working at PlayStation for almost 28 years in multiple roles, such as chief legal officer, and VP of business affairs.
Since being formed in December 2015, Kojima Productions has only released one game, Death Stranding, which was part funded by PlayStation. After hiring various roles at its Tokyo office last October, Kojima confirmed he had a new project in development, but he has yet to reveal what it is.
"The new division will be tasked with working with creative and talented professionals in television, music, and film, as well as the more familiar games industry," Russell told Gamesindustry.biz. "The team has as its charter, the goal of expanding the reach and awareness of the properties now under development at Kojima Productions, and to make them even more a part of our popular culture."
