Krafton is building its own metaverse platform
In partnership with Naver Z
In a press release today, Krafton, the creators behind the popular battle royale game PUBG, revealed its plans to enter the NFT space.
The company has partnered with Naver Z to develop a new Web3 and NFT project aimed at building an ‘NFT metaverse platform’. Krafton will use its previous experience to develop a user-generation content (UGC) creation tool along with a high-quality virtual world using Unreal Engine.
Naver Z currently operates Asia’s largest metaverse platform, Zepeto, which has over 290 million users worldwide. In Zepeto, users can interact with others with their own 3D avatars using AR technology.
"By combining Krafton's existing technologies and research on how to build scalable Web 3.0 creator-driven ecosystems with Naver Z and Zepeto's experience and capabilities, we're confident we can build a high-quality UGC-driven open metaverse that stands apart from other services and vitalizes the global creator economy through NFT technologies." said HyungChul Park,Web3 lead at Krafton
The partnership comes days after Krafton invested $4 million in NFT platform Xbyblue and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to develop NFT oriented projects.
