Nansen announces crypto-native messaging app
Aims to put security first
Blockchain analytics platform Nansen has announced the launch of "Nansen Connect,” " a crypto-native messaging app developed for Web3 communities.
Users will be able to log into Nansen Connect via their crypto wallets, select a username based on their Nansen wallet labels and join groups based on crypto holdings and on-chain behaviours.
“While certain Web 2 platforms can be used to token-gate communities, they rely on plugins and are rife with problems,” saud Nansen product manager Paul Harwood. The app is intended to be a “secure, crypto-native method for users and groups to explore the frontiers of Web 3 communication.”
If you’ve been keeping up with the NFT space, there’s a good chance you’re familiar with how common scams are on Discord, the current messaging platform of choice for Web3 communities.
Bored Ape Yacht Club’s Discord server has been exploited twice this year, resulting in hundreds of NFTs being stolen from users. These exploits, along with many others, have led the space to seek a more secure platform.
At launch, Nansen subscribers and holders of NFTs select projects will be eligible to sign up. These include Bored Ape Yacht Club, Azuki, Clonex, Doodles, and Moonbirds.
Additionally, multiple NFT projects have confirmed plans to use Nansen Connect as an official community platform, including Pudgy Penguins, KaijuKingz, Hashmasks, and CyberKongz.
