Netflix partners with Microsoft for new ad-supported streaming tier
Will become a global advertising technology partner
Netflix is teaming up with Microsoft to launch an ad-supported streaming tier. The partnership entails that Microsoft will become Netflix’s “global advertising technology and sales partner.”
According to Netflix COO Greg Peters, the partnership between the streaming platform and Microsoft is in its early days. Peters has also stated that the long-term goal of the partnership is to create more options for Netflix consumers and offer premium Tv brand experiences for its advertisers.
The partnership would mean that marketers will be working with Microsoft to bring ads to Netflix’s cheaper ad-supported streaming option that they hinted at in May. As of right now, there is no official date on which the new ad-supported streaming option will be rolled out, but it is rumored to roll out by the end of this year.
