Crypto exchange FTX is expanding into Europe
FTX, the world’s seventh-largest exchange, has announced plans to launch a new European affiliate: FTX Europe.
⠀
In a press release on Monday, the company revealed FTX Europe will offer clients in the European Economic Area and the Middle East access to derivatives, options, volatility products, and much more.
⠀
The new European venture is headquartered in Switzerland along with a regional headquarters in Cyprus, where it received approval for the platform from financial market regulator CySEC.
⠀
“As we continue to grow, we are constantly looking at opportunities to become appropriately licensed and regulated in every market we enter," said Sam Bankman-Fried, FTX's founder and CEO, said in a statement. "We'll be interacting with regulators in various countries across Europe to continue to provide a safe and secure environment for people to trade crypto."
⠀
This comes just a week after FTX launched its $1 billion fund called the FTX Future Fund with the goal to support "ambitious projects in order to improve humanity's long-term prospects."
NFT artist Olive Allen burns her Russian passport
After living in the U.S. for over 11 years, Olive Allen has burnt her only copy of her Russian passport in front of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in New York City.
⠀
Allen explained the decision was underpinned by the low chance she would ever return to Russia again under its current government. “I do not consider Putin’s Russia my home,” said Allen. “Our country has such an immense potential, but the government has been f---ing people over for eternity,” she told Cointelegraph.
⠀
Later on in the week on Twitter, Allen said she stands in solidarity with Ukraine and announced her burnt passport would be listed as an NFT on the SuperRare marketplace, with the proceeds going to Save the Children International, a charity founded to improve the lives of children.
⠀
The auction went live on SuperRare on March 4th and quickly received 14 bids before user @dedb8 won it for 3.66 ETH ($94,66.96).

Instagram removes Boomerang and Hyperlapse from app stores
Instagram’s standalone apps for their Boomerang and Hyperlapse feature are being removed from Apple’s App Store, as well as the Google Play store.
⠀
The company did not formally make an announcement about its removal but a few Twitter users, such as social media consultant Matt Navarra tweeted about Boomerang and Hyperlapse being removed from app stores.
⠀
The removal of the Boomerang and Hyperlapse standalone apps comes after Instagram’s announcement on February 28th that they will no longer be supporting the IGTV app. This change indicates that Instagram is working to shift focus from their separate apps such as Boomerang, Hyperlapse, and IGTV to focusing more on the main app itself.
⠀
Instagram spokesperson Christine Pai told The Verge that “Boomerang is still supported in-app in Stories, and Layout remains a standalone app in the Store.” The last day on which both the standalone apps of Boomerang and Hyperlapse will be in the app store was March 1st.
