Nintendo Switch Online's N64 games will be 60Hz
Good news for N64 fans
Earlier this week, Nintendo confirmed all N64 games in the upcoming Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service will have a 60Hz English language version.
Relief to fans
Last month when Nintendo's European Switch Online + Expansion Pack announcement included footage of PAL games running apparently at 50Hz, it left fans worried. Nintendo has now announced all games included in the Switch Online + Expansion pack come with an English version available at 60Hz.
What’s the difference?
Back when the Nintendo 64 debuted in Europe, all games were in PAL format, unlike the US, which used NTSC. These region-specific titles ran at 50Hz instead of 60Hz, leading most gamers to view them as inferior versions. The difference between the two had a big impact on gameplay, making it the smoothness and responsiveness of gameplay.
Set of classics
The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion pack will launch with a great set of classic classics, including Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, Yoshi's Story, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, WinBack: Covert Operations, Mario Tennis, Dr. Mario 64, and Sin & Punishment. If your favourite N64 game is missing, don't worry, more games are getting added in the future.
