Robinhood lists Cardano ahead of Vasil upgrade
In response to significant customer demand
Commission-free investing app Robinhood listed Cardano (ADA) on Thursday. With a market capitalization of $15.5 billion, Cardano is currently the eighth largest cryptocurrency, according to CoinGecko data.
The listing comes days after Cardano founder Bob Hoskinson shared an update on the blockchain’s long-awaited Vasil upgrade, saying developers are making steady progress toward the event expected to occur later this month.
“Things are moving along very quickly. Extensive testing is still being done by both the community and still by us. A lot of integration work is happening behind the scenes, so all of that infrastructure is looking good,” he noted. “Sometime in September is what it looks like, unless something is discovered or we run into a substantial slowdown somewhere.”
Vasil aims to improve Cardano's scalability and transaction throughput through pipelining. The upgrade will also enable the use of new Plutus capabilities, including node and CLI support for inline datums, reference inputs, reference scripts, collateral output, and Plutus V2 primitives.
