Hey Waivly Crew! 🌊 GN is purchasing SteelSeries in a deal worth about $1.24 billion. Shiba Inu has soared around 367%, right after Elon Musk revealed his puppy, Floki.
Jabra owner GN acquires SteelSeries
Gaming peripherals-maker SteelSeries is being acquired by GN, owner of audio equipment company Jabra.
It wasn't cheap
Jabra's owner GN is acquiring SteelSeries for approximately $1.2 billion. The deal announced earlier this week gives GN access to SteelSeries’ headsets, keyboards, mice, and other peripherals for PC and console gaming, as well as its sub-brands, such as Nahimic.
Not much will change
According to a press release from GN, SteelSeries's leadership will be run by the same leadership team and organization that is driving it currently. The acquisition is expected to close “by the beginning of 2022, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
An interesting market
“We have for some time searched for the right way for GN to enter the very interesting gaming market, being keenly interested in the ‘high-end’ segment,” René Svendsen-Tune, CEO of GN Audio, said in a statement. “We’re on a mission to continually push boundaries in esports and gaming with world-class products and software, and now, with the backing of GN, we’ll be able to turbo charge these efforts.”
Microsoft set to release translucent accessories
To celebrate Xbox's 20th Birthday, Microsoft will be releasing special edition translucent accessories such as a translucent controller as well as stereo headsets.
How do the translucent accessories look?
The translucent controller, according to Microsoft, is a callback and pays homage to the translucent controllers that shipped with the Original Xbox debug kit back in 2001. The new controller will be the same model as the Series X/S controllers and will be black. It will have a splash of Xbox's iconic green color on the home button as well as the controller's D-pad and its grip. They will also have Bluetooth capabilities, which will allow players to connect to mobile devices and PCs.
Not fully translucent
The translucent headsets will not be fully translucent, but the ear cups will be see-through and have a green 20th anniversary marking on their left ear cup. Components for both translucent accessories will be silver, so gamers can easily see through its black casing.
When are the accessories set to launch?
The translucent controller and headset are set to be released on November 15th, 2021, which would make Xbox 20 years old on the day of the launch. Both the headset and the controller are available for pre-order at the Microsoft store and on Amazon.

The US Department of Justice has officially created a team of investigators to look into cryptocurrency-related criminal activity.
Go after cybercrime
On Wednesday, Deputy Attorney General Lisa O. Monaco announced that the US government is going to more actively enforce action against people who use cryptocurrencies for crimes like ransomware demand payments, money laundering, illegal sales of drugs, weapons, and malware, as well as tracing and recovering assets lost to ransomware extortion demands of fraud.
The team created will be called the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET), which will be under the supervision of Assistant Attorney General Kenneth A. Polite Jr., until they find someone "with experience with complex criminal investigations and prosecutions, as well as the technology underpinning cryptocurrencies and the blockchain," to lead the team.
Stop illegal activity
“We want to strengthen our capacity to dismantle the financial ecosystem that enables these criminal actors to flourish and — quite frankly — to profit from what they’re doing,” said Monaco. “We’re going to do that by drawing on our cyber experts and cyber prosecutors and money-laundering experts.”
Shiba Inu is now the world’s 20th-biggest cryptocurrency by market value, and it only took 14 months.
The “Dogecoin killer” has surged by around 209% percent since Monday, over tripling its overall value and putting its market value above $10 billion, which makes it the world’s 20th-biggest cryptocurrency.
What is Shiba Inu?
Last August, Shiba Inu, named after a breed of Japanese dogs, was founded by an anonymous individual named Ryoshi, believed to be living in China. The coin's website refers to it as “a decentralized meme token that evolved into a vibrant ecosystem.”
Why did its price go up?
One of the reasons for Shiba's price surge is probably something you have already guessed, Tesla CEO and crypto enthusiast Elon Musk tweeted a picture of his Shiba Inu puppy. Bitcoin has also exploded in the past few days and has even come close to $56k. It began to surge right after Bank of America indicated interest in cryptocurrency and said, "crypto-based digital assets could form an entirely new asset class."
