Yesterday at its bi-annual showcase, Shopify unveiled over 100 new updates and features, including a new partnership with Twitter and tokengated commerce.
Twitter integration
Twitter is partnering with Shopify to launch a sales channel app that will be made available to all of Shopify’s U.S. merchants through its app store.
After connecting their Twitter account with Shopify, the app allows merchants to onboard Twitter’s Shopping Manager and open a virtual storefront, where they can access product catalog tools, enable other shopping features for their profiles, and more.
Within the app, merchants can sync their product catalogs to Twitter, eliminating the need to manually update each item manually when making changes to their products’ details.
Tokengated commerce
After adding the ability for merchants to sell NFTs last year, the e-commerce giant is launching a new feature called “Tokengated Commerce.”
The feature allow merchants to offer holders of their NFTs a range of personalized benefits, such as “exclusive merchandise, early access to drops, cool collabs with other brands, or even IRL experiences.”
As part of its launch, Shopify has partnered with the Adam Bomb Squad, Doodles, World of Women, Invisible Friends, Superplastic, Stapleverse, and Cool Cats NFT collections to create token-gated storefronts.
