Messaging app Telegram now allows users to send crypto payments using Toncoin within the app, according to a recent tweet from TON (The Open Network).
⠀
TON has stated that all Toncoin transactions will now be supported on Telegram without any attached fees. To send Toncoin within the Telegram app, users will have to add Telegram’s Wallet bot onto the users’ attachment menu, which would allow them to buy cryptocurrency using a bank card, exchange the crypto, and even transfer them into other wallets.
⠀
After the Wallet bot is added, the user goes to the Wallet menu from the attachment tab in a chat, enters the amount of Toncoin they want to send, and confirms all the information. Once the user confirms all the information, they can send the crypto payment.
⠀
The addition of the new crypto payment feature on Telegram will not only allow users to send crypto but also allow them to purchase bitcoin within the app, according to Protocol.
⠀
TON is a blockchain-based decentralized computer network technology that manages Toncoin as its own crypto token. TON was originally developed by the Telegram team but had to abandon the project due to facing pressures from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Despite Telegram abandoning the project, a group of developers stuck with the project and renamed it The Open Network.
