🚗 Tesla Model S Plaid is the fastest EV

It's faster than we thought

Hey Waivly Crew! 🌊 Tesla Model S Plaid has broken a record for the Nürburgring race track. Epic Games is appealing last Friday's ruling in its court battle with Apple.

Epic Games appeals ruling in its lawsuit against Apple

After Friday's ruling in its lawsuit against Apple, Epic Games has filed an appeal to re-examine the case and overturn the judge's ruling.

Not a win for the Fortnite developers

On Friday, in a 185-page decision made by U.S District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, Apple was ordered to dismantle a part of the competitive barricade guarding its closely run iPhone app store, but she rejected Epic's claim that Apple ran a monopoly.

Unfortunate for Epic Games

As part of the judge's decision, Epic Games now has to pay Apple 30% of the $12 million earned when it introduced its alternative payment system in Fortnite on iOS, a massive breach of its contract with Apple.

Victory for Apple

Apple declared the court battle as a victory, as the judge agreed with Apple that its position was “not in violation of antitrust law” along with concluding that Apple's success in the app and gaming ecosystem is completely legal.

Zoom is set to add new live translation services

Zoom has recently announced at its Zoomtopia conference that it will be expanding its support for automatic live transcription as well as adding live translation on the video chat platform. In addition, to the expansion of Zoom's support for live transcription and the implementation of live translation, Zoom will be turning its whiteboard feature into a fully featured app within the platform.

What capabilities do they have?

The automatic live closed captions in English were first announced back in February, but now, Zoom has stated that they are planning to provide instantaneous transcriptions during video conference calls by the end of the year. The transcription service will feature about 30 languages. Zoom has also stated that the live translation feature will support real-time translation across 12 languages and will be available for paid Zoom accounts.

Other major changes coming to Zoom

Zoom is making some changes to its whiteboard feature. The drawing tools in Zoom's Whiteboard feature will be the same, but the main changes will be how the feature is being treated. It will be treated as a product alongside Zoom's video calls rather than just being a feature within the Zoom app. Users will be able to access whiteboards outside of meetings and be able to add sticky notes as well as draw and comment on whiteboards whenever they want.

Tesla Model S Plaid sets a new EV record

A few days ago, the Tesla Model S Plaid has set a new lap record for the fastest production EV around the Nürburgring Nordschleife course in Germany.

How fast was it?

A new Model S Plaid completed the 12.9-mile lap in seven minutes and 30.9 seconds, beating the Porsche Taycan’s record set in 2019 by 12 seconds. The Model S Plaid produces around 1,020 horsepower from its three electric motors, significantly higher than the Porsche Taycan‘s 670 horsepower back in 2019.

Elon is pleased

Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk announced the record on his Twitter, showing a picture of a piece of paper with two times, 7:35.579 and 7:30.909, and according to Nuerburgring, the slower of the two is the official time.

Not done yet

In another tweet, Elon confirmed the car was unmodified, and directly from the factory, along with announcing Tesla would attempt the Nürburgring again, but this time using a “modified Plaid with added aero surfaces, carbon brakes & track tires (all things that can be done without Tesla being in the loop).”
