The best horror movies and shows on Netflix this Halloween

Celebrate Halloween the right way

There’s no better way to enjoy the spooky season than to start a Halloween movie marathon. If you use Netflix, here’s some of the best movies and shows to watch this week.

If you haven’t seen Hereditary already, you should change that this year. Hereditary is a psychological horror film written and directed by Ari Aster. After the Graham's family grandmother passes, they start to unravel terrifying secrets about their ancestry.

Midnight mass

Netflix Original Midnight mass is the most recently released pick on this list, as it debuted on Netflix in September. The plot centres around a young priest that brings miracles, mysteries, and supernatural events to a small isolated island community.

The Blair Witch Project

A Halloween movie list wouldn't be complete without at least one classic. The Blair Witch Project, released in 1999, follows three film students who head into the woods and film a documentary on the mysterious Blair Witch incidents. After gathering clues on the Blair Witch, the project takes an unexpected turn when the students get lost.

The Fear Street Trilogy

For everyone with plans to binge-watch movies over Halloween, The Fear Street Trilogy is a horror film series directed by Leigh Janiak that debuted on Netflix back in July. Unlike most film series, the three work backward in time, with Part 1 set in 1994, Part 2 in 1978, and Part 3 taking place over 300 years before in 1666.
