The NFL is attaching NFTs to game tickets
Continuing to experiment with NFTs
The NFL has announced it is paring tickets with select games with “Virtual Commemorative Tickets” sent as NFTs to eligible Ticketmaster wallets.
The league released its first batch of commemorative NFTs through Ticketmaster and Polygon on Thursday, including 125 different collectibles for each of the 32 NFL teams.
The next virtual commemorative ticket game is scheduled for Thanksgiving during the Bears / Lions matchup. NFL club business development senior vice president Bobby Gallo says, “Leveraging the emerging world of NFTs is a new and exciting way for us to create additional value and to further engage with fans who attend select games by providing a virtual commemorative ticket. There is no better time than the upcoming holiday season to kick off this fun and engaging fan experience, starting with the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day matchup.”
The NFL partnered with Dapper Labs back in September, with plans to create its own NFT collectible marketplace on the Flow blockchain, similar to NBA’s Top Shot collection. At some point during this season, the marketplace will sell digital video collectibles.
