The Pokémon Company has posted a new job listing for a Corporate Development Principal, and it looks like the position requires the candidate to have a grasp of Web3.
Specifically, the firm is looking for someone with “deep knowledge and understanding of Web3, including blockchain technologies and NFT, and/or metaverse.”
Notably, it wants someone who’s already immersed in the space, asking for applicants that are “deeply connected to a network of investors and entrepreneurs in the technology sectors above (Web3 and metaverse).”
While the listing does not reveal The Pokémon Company's Web3 plans, it says the Corporate Development Principal will develop an internal “innovation challenge” to help introduce new Pokémon experiences to the world.
Last week, Square Enix's president confirmed that it plans to release multiple blockchain games next year. Sony, EA, and Konami have all previously shown interest in NFTs, while Minecraft developer Mojang has said "no" to them.
