Livestreaming platform Twitch has launched ‘Twitch Charity,’ a new fundraising tool that will make it easier for streamers to run charity streams.
The new tool is designed to help and simplify how streamers set up charity streams. Before the implementation of the new tool, streamers had a lot to manage when they are hosting a charity stream. With the Twitch Charity, streamers can choose “charity mode” for their stream, which will activate the “Donate to Charity” button on their stream.
The “Donate to Charity” button is where viewers can donate to the streamer’s chosen charity. All donations that streamers receive during their charity stream will be processed in partnership with PayPal Giving Fund and will go towards the streamer’s chosen charity after the payment processing fee.
Twitch will not be taking a cut or a tax incentive from any donations received during a streamer’s charity stream. As of right now, the new tool is launching in beta, and only some streamers will have access to Twitch Charity.
