Elon Musk says the Tesla Roadster is delayed until 2023
Earlier this week, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that Tesla is delaying the new version of the Roadster until 2023 at the earliest.
Due to supply chain shortages
Elon has put the blame for the Roadster not shipping until 2023 at the earliest. on the ongoing supply chain shortages that have been going on this year, saying in a tweet, "2021 has been the year of super crazy supply chain shortages, so it wouldn’t matter if we had 17 new products, as none would ship."
Long time coming
The new version of Tesla's high-performance Roadster was revealed back in 2017, during an event that also revealed Tesla's Semi truck, which has also yet to be delivered. In 2020, the Roadster was supposed to debut, but due to the coronavirus and other reasons, it will be a while until we see it.
Not Tesla's fault
Tesla isn't the only company that has experienced supply chain shortages, other automakers like Toyota and Ford have slashed production volumes to cope with chip shortages.
