Ozzy Osbourneâs NFT launch targeted by scammers
Ozzy Osbourneâs new NFT project âCryptoBatzâ has fallen victim to a phishing scam causing over $40,000 to be stolen from buyers.
â
CryptoBatz, a collection of 9,666 digital bats, was announced by Ozzy Osbourne last month, but it did not have a successful launch. The scam took place after the project changed URLs for its Discord server from discord.gg/cryptobatznft to just discord.gg/cryptobatz. Shortly after, scammers created a new server using the old URL, which was still being promoted on the projectâs social media accounts.
â
The fake server brought in around 1,330 users, who were then targeted by phishing scam links from a bot in the server. After users clicked the scam link and connected their wallets with the hope to buy an NFT, all crypto got quickly stolen.
â
Tim Silman, a nonprofit employee, had roughly $400 USD in ETH stolen from his wallet, but a lot of people had it worse. âIâve seen at least a dozen people on Twitter voicing this same issue,â Silman told The Verge. âIf you look at the transactions on Etherscan, others lost a lot more than me.â
â
An Ethereum wallet address Silman shared that is linked to the scammers shows a series of incoming transactions totalling 14.6 ETH ($40,895) on January 20th, which was later sent onwards to a wallet containing more than $150,000.
â
While this is mostly the projectâs team fault, along with the scammers, this is a great example of why you should always double-check if youâre joining an official Discord server or not, and only open links you are certain are safe.
UFC partners with Dapper Labs to launch NFT collection
The creators of NBA Top Shot and NFL All day, Dapper Labs, have announced the launch of a new NFT collection called âUFC Strike.â
â
Launching as an open drop of 200,000 total packs, UFC Strike will start with a first-round of 100,000 âFully Loadedâ packs, consisting of three NFT Moments capturing incredible finishes and amazing displays of striking and grappling from UFC fighters like Francis Ngannou, Amanda Nunes, Kamaru Usman, and many others.
â
UFC Senior Vice President of Global Consumer Products Tracey Bleczinski explained the partnership. âDapper Labs is an innovator in this field, creating an industry that didnât exist a few years ago,â said Bleczinski. âTheir vision for the potential of these products is the reason UFC chose Dapper Labs as its first NFT partner. Weâre thrilled to finally be able to offer these amazing digital collectibles to enrich the UFC experience for our fans.â
â
The initial drop was on Sunday, January 23rd, at 2 pm ET (7 pm GMT), where fans joined the queue for a chance to buy a pack at $50.

WhatsApp may soon allow users to transfer chats from Android to iOS
The messaging platform, WhatsApp is rumoured to be working on a new feature that will allow its users to transfer their chat history from Android onto iOS.
â
The import chat feature that WhatsApp is developing was first spotted on their latest beta version on iOS. As shown by screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, we can assume that the new feature will ask its usersâ permission before it starts importing chats from Androids to iOS. It will also instruct users to keep WhatsApp open as well as their phones unlocked while the transferring process is happening.
â
WhatsApp has begun allowing users to import chats from iOS devices onto Samsung phones back in September which later extended to support the importing of chats from iOS to Google Pixel devices.
â
As of right now, there is no official date as to when the rumoured feature will begin to roll out as well as which devices will support the feature.
