Cool Cats NFT project creators signs with CAA
Leading entertainment and sports agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA) has signed Cool Cats, the producers behind the popular Cool Cats and Cool Pets NFT collections.⠀
Last July, Colin Egan, Evan Luza, Tom Williamson, and Rob Mehew first launched the Ethereum-based collection of 9,999 randomly generated blue cat NFTs. Now with CAA, Cool Cats will explore licensing and merchandising opportunities, including animated content, brand deals, publishing, and events.
⠀
“People’s perception of Cool Cats solely exists in the NFT capacity right now, but that’s really just our launching platform for the brand as a whole, so we intend to take it in just about every avenue that we possibly can,” Luza told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s going to be more of an experience, rather than just a JPEG,” Egen added.
⠀
This isn’t the first time an NFT project signed to an agency. Last August, Larva Lab’s CryptoPunks, Meebits, and Autoglyphs signed a similar deal with United Talent Agency for representation across film, TV, video games, publishing, and licensing. Now that Yuga Labs has acquired the three collections, the future of this deal is uncertain.
Bank of England partners with MIT to explore CBDC
The Bank of England (BoE) has partnered with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to research a central bank digital currency (CBDC).
⠀
Over the next 12 months, BoE and MIT’s Digital Currency Initiative will carry out a research project to determine the benefits and risks of launching a UK CBDC, commonly known as the ‘digital pound.’
⠀
“The collaboration forms part of the Bank’s wider ‘research and exploration’ into CBDC and will be focused on exploration and experimentation of potential technology approaches. This work is focused on exploratory technology research and is not intended to develop an operational CBDC,” BOE highlighted in an announcement.
⠀
The BoE started studying CBDCs in 2020, releasing a discussion paper on March 12th that year covering how a CBDC could present various opportunities for the bank to achieve its objectives of 'maintaining monetary and financial stability.’
⠀
The BoE isn’t the first bank to work with MIT, as earlier this month, the Bank of Canada partnered with the university for the same reason, to explore the potential benefits and uses of a CBDC.

Ukraine launches NFT Museum of war to support its military
Ukraine's Ministry for Digital Transformation has launched a NFT collection to raise funds for its army and civilians.
⠀
The collection, titled “Meta History: Museum of War,” consists of 54 NFTs that depict the events of the Russian invasion chronologically between February 24th and February 26th, starting with Russia's 'special military operation' announcement on February 24th.⠀
NFTs from the collection will be available starting on March 30th, with proceeds of the sales in Ether used to support the country’s army and civilians. Each NFT shows a ‘substantial event’ with an illustration from an artist and a tweet from government officials, news outlets, and world leaders.
⠀
While the main focus of the collection is to raise funds, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov hopes it will help the world never forget the devastating war. “While Russia uses tanks to destroy Ukraine, we rely on revolutionary blockchain tech,” said Fedorov. “[The NFT museum is] the place to keep the memory of war. And the place to celebrate the Ukrainian identity and freedom.”
