Victoria’s Secret is entering the metaverse
Plans to sell virtual clothing
Victoria’s secret, the world-famous lingerie and beauty brand, is the latest company to take its first step into the metaverse.
Over the weekend, trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis revealed on Twitter that Victoria’s Secret filed four applications on February 8th related to NFTs, blockchain, and the metaverse.
According to the applications, Victoria’s Secret plans to open retail stores featuring virtual goods such as clothing, undergarments, headwear, bags, accessories, and more to be used in virtual environments like fashion shows.
Kondoudis stated that the trademark filings "clearly indicate that Victoria's Secret intends to participate in the Metaverse selling virtual goods and services, in online and virtual worlds." “These new trademarks also provide VIctoria's Secret with extra protection in the event others attempt to use the brand online in an unlicensed way," Kondoudis added.
Victoria’s Secret wouldn’t be the first to embrace the metaverse as Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Balenciaga, Burberry, Balmain, and many other luxury clothing brands have already taken their first steps to sell virtual clothing.
