World of Women Galaxy generates $79M in the first day

On Saturday, World of Women released a new Galaxy collection of 22,222 NFTs, and it wasn’t long until the collection sold out.

According to the team behind the project, World of Women Galaxy generated around $79 million worth of sales within the first 24 hours of launching. This includes $34 million in primary sales from the mint and $45 million in secondary market sales.

Since then, World of Women Galaxy has become the most traded NFT collection with $64 million in secondary sales, towering ahead of other notable PFP collections like Azuki ($50M), Bored Ape Yacht Club ($44M), and Mutant Ape Yacht Club ($41M), per data from CryptoSlam.

World of Women allowed every holder from the original collection to claim an NFT for free, whereas 2,222 NFTs were available at a cheaper price for the allowlist “to welcome other communities and supporters to the WoW fam.” The remaining 10,000 Galaxy NFTs were launched to the public on Saturday via a dutch auction starting at 3 ETH.

Bored Ape Yacht Club drops new merch

Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) has recently dropped new merch for their NFT holders to purchase. The new merch can be purchased with ApeCoin.

Yuga Labs first teased their limited-time merch drop for BAYC and MAYC holders on March 25th on Instagram and Twitter. While other projects have accepted ETH for their merch in the past, BAYC is the first to exclusively accept their own ecosystem token.

Many BAYC members have complained that they were having payment issues when checking out their merch. BAYC’s Twitter account later reassured holders that they are “aware of the Coinbase Commerce issues during merch store checkout” and that they are working to resolve the issues.

Bored Ape Yacht Club’s merch drop highlights one of ApeCoin’s many use cases. So far, ApeCoin can also be used as an in-game currency for Animoca Brands’ game, Benji Bananas, or to vote in the ApeCoin decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).

El Corte Inglés plans to launch crypto exchange

El Corte Inglés, the third-biggest retailer and distributor in Spain, has announced the launch of its own crypto exchange.

The exchange will reportedly be called called ‘Bitcor’ and offer the retailer’s 11 million registered customer access to cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and many others.

El Corte Inglés first registered the name Bitcor last year with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), with the focus to provide “financial services, financial transactions related to currency exchange and trading of foreign exchange," and got approved by the European Commission.

The company has partnered with multinational professional services network Deloitte to develop the platform. Because El Corte Inglé's clients are “small savers” from the retail sector, the company believes they could be interested in crypto through a known company rather than going to newer brands.
