Tired of getting up early to get ready for meetings? Similar to Apple’s Apple's Animojis, Zoom has introduced avatars that replace your head with a 3D character that mimics your facial expressions.
⠀
The avatar feature will only be available on Zoom 5.10.0 or later on iOS, Mac, and Windows devices. Zoom has clarified this feature doesn’t use facial recognition. Instead, it simply recognizes any face, not yours in particular.
⠀
Want to use an avatar? First, turn on your webcam, open the meeting toolbar, open video options, and select “Stop Video.” From here, select a background or filter. Now go to the Avatars, and choose a cat, dog, fox or any other avatar of your choice!
⠀
Zoom believes avatars will help “provide a good middle ground for users who don’t want to appear on camera but still want to express body language and facial expressions.” Use cases suggested by the company include hybrid work, classrooms, pediatric consultations, and virtual events.”
